With just 12 weeks to go until Christmas, registration is now open for the Calon Hearts Santa Dash 5K, taking place at Roald Dahl Plass, Cardiff Bay, on Sunday 6 December at 12 noon.
Now in its 16th year, the Santa Dash has become a much-loved part of the Welsh Christmas calendar, bringing together families, friends, colleagues and runners for a sea of festive colour in the heart of Cardiff Bay – all while raising vital funds to help save lives.
And despite the name, you certainly don’t have to dash! People of all ages and abilities are invited to run, jog or walk the 5K route, making it as much about Christmas fun, laughter and bringing people together as it is about crossing the finish line.
Entry costs £12 per person or £40 for a team of four, while children under five can take part free of charge. Participants will also receive a free event T-shirt and certificate, with prizes up for grabs on the day.
Sharon Owen, founder and CEO of Calon Hearts, said:
“For 16 years, the Santa Dash has brought people together at Christmas to have fun and help us save lives. To see it grow into Wales’ biggest Santa Dash is something we’re incredibly proud of.
“Now we want to make our 16th year really special. We want families, friends, businesses, running clubs and groups from right across Wales to come and join us. Whether you run, jog or walk, it really doesn’t matter – just come along, get into the Christmas spirit and be part of it.
“Every person who signs up helps us continue our lifesaving work, so let’s fill Cardiff Bay this December and make our 16th Santa Dash our biggest yet.”
All proceeds from the Santa Dash will support Calon Hearts’ lifesaving work.
The Welsh heart charity provides heart screening to identify potentially life-threatening conditions, delivers CPR and defibrillator training and helps place lifesaving defibrillators in communities.
To date, Calon Hearts has screened more than 38,000 people, trained more than 605,000 people in CPR and helped place more than 37,000 defibrillators.
The charity is now encouraging people from right across Wales to get the date in their diaries, gather their friends, families and colleagues and sign up for one of Wales’ biggest festive events.
Whether you’re chasing a 5K time, taking a Christmas stroll with the family or simply looking for an excuse to get dressed up and have some festive fun, Calon Hearts wants you on the start line this December.
