There are some donations whose impact can be seen almost immediately. Others can continue making a difference for many years to come.

This week, Calon Hearts reached an important milestone. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we have been able to purchase a brand new echo machine for our heart screening programme.

It is a significant investment, but more importantly, it is an investment in people.

Every screening day gives our clinical team another opportunity to identify a potential heart condition early. Having the right equipment available is an essential part of that work, helping us to continue taking heart screening into communities and giving people access to checks that could ultimately save their lives.

Seeing what our supporters have made possible also demonstrates why gifts left to charities in Wills can be so important.

For many people, writing a Will is first and foremost about making sure the people they love are looked after. But after family and friends have been provided for, some choose to leave a gift to a cause that has mattered to them during their lifetime.

Since Calon Hearts was established, we have screened tens of thousands of people, trained hundreds of thousands in CPR and helped place thousands of defibrillators in communities. Behind those numbers are individuals, families, workplaces, sports clubs and communities who are better prepared to recognise and respond to a cardiac emergency.

And there is still so much more we want to do.
